Braves vs Rockies…Vazquez vs. De La Rosa

Posted by m1fournier on May 20, 2009

Tonight the Braves are set to face lefty Jorge De La Rosa in the final game of their series with the Rockies. In his last 2 starts DLR has struck out 22 batters in 15 innings. The problem when DLR pitches hasn’t been poor pitching, but lack of run support. So Braves starter Javier Vazquez, who has also been dominate in his last few starts looks to keep the Rockies bats quiet tonight.

Last night the Braves scored 8 runs, so let’s hope that type of offense can continue tonight as well. Tonight’s game is scheduled for 7:00 PM at Turner Field. GO BRAVES !!!

Braves Look to Rebound Today as they Send Jo-Jo to the Mound

Posted by m1fournier on May 13, 2009

After a tough loss last night in extra innings the Braves look to turn it around. Today’s pitching matchup will include Jo-Jo Reyes goinreyes(3)g to the mound for the Braves as the Mets send lefty Jon Niese. Reyes so far this year is 0-2 with a 5.48 ERA and has 20 strikeouts, and his last start was plagued by the long ball. Reyes is 0-9 in his last 17 starts so today he looks for a win.

Many of the Braves hitters have yet to face Niese so it will be interesting to see how they fair against him. The Braves look to end this road trip on high note, and win their 6th game of the road trip. Today’s game starts at 1:10 pm and will be played at Citi field in New York.

The Braves Look to Make it 3 in a Row Against Santana and the Mets

Posted by m1fournier on May 11, 2009

mlb_a_lowe1_sw_576Tonight the Atlanta Braves, lead by Derek Lowe(4-1), will face the New York Mets and Johan Santana(4-1) at 7:30pm at Citi Field. The Braves look to not only get to Santana with their bats, raise his 0.91 ERA, and also beat the Mets for the first time this year. johan The Braves just got their star catcher, Brian McCann back and outfielder Garret Anderson, and now Chipper Jones goes down with another injury. Jones  said it is 50% that he will play tonight. He did however say that there is a greater chance that he will be in the lineup Tuesday!

D. Lowe is pitching against the Mets for the first time after deciding to sign with Braves and not the Mets. This is a big test for the Braves team to build some momentum and hopefully keep their modest winning streak going and gain some ground in the standings.
