Tommy Hanson goes 8 innings, Strikes out 9, and Gwinnett Loses

Posted by m1fournier on May 10, 2009

Today the Gwinnett Braves lost a tough game against the Durham Bulls, 4-3. Hanson pitched 8 strong inPanama+v+Atlanta+Braves+56WErWBK8xZlnings giving up 6 hits, 3 runs(all solo home-runs), walking just 1, and striking out 9, but got his 2nd straight no-decision. After this no decision his record remains at 1-3, while sporting a 1.99 ERA. Hanson is easily the Braves greatest pitching prospect, having 57 strikeouts and only 12 walks in 40.2 innings. He seems to be clearly ready for the call up to the big leagues, and it will happen, it’s more of a question of when then if! Manager Bobby Cox has said they don’t want to rush Hanson and also once there is a need for help in the rotation. So it seems like it could happen next month or even next year, we’ll have to wait and see, but for now we can admire the numbers the youngster puts up in Triple AAA Gwinnett.

Hanson is one of the better pitching prospects the Braves have had in a little while, good to see him living up to his expectations in AAA.
